Belly Art - Houston

Unique to Each Belly Art

Welcoming a new life into the world is unique for each family. Some families spend years trying to conceive, some just a few months, while others experience an unexpected positive pregnancy test. A percentage of labors will unfold exactly as planned and others will navigate the many variations of labor and birth. One family's transition into parenthood may have many supporting hands from nearby friends and family while another has support in the form of the listening ears and hearts of parents in the same position. One family may have an entire themed suite for their newest bundle, while one is preparing a cozy nook, and another is perfecting baby's corner of the family room. One thing is certain for all families: adding a new family member is not a simple step by step process but a journey full of love and learning.

ärt/
noun
1. the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

Art is not limited to a flat canvas. Its ability to express is suitable for many forms of media. Like a pregnant belly in real life or cast form! Henna, belly painting, and belly cast art are all beautiful ways capture the journey of new life. One of the many benefits of these forms of art is that they can be created privately or incorporated into a baby shower, mother's blessing, or maternity photos.

So who creates this belly art and how can I chat about my ideas?

Greetings! I'm Kati, your guest blogger! I have been an artist since I had the coordination to pick up a crayon. I have been fortunate to learn about and use many forms of art: drawing, painting, mixed media, tattooing, henna, and crafting. I have traveled to many countries to experience art spanning centuries. I have been even more fortunate to support new families in a career that I love! I am a labor and postpartum doula, belly artist, and the general manager of Concierge Doulas of Houston. I am beyond thankful to live ad work in such a diverse city with so many different kinds of families. The art that is created for each belly is truly unique.

Belly art can be an expression of many different thoughts, feelings, and events. Belly Henna at a mother's blessing to celebrate blossoming into motherhood, belly painting to share the joy of a thoughtfully themed baby shower or a belly cast art that captures the magical change in a family's history, displayed in a classical way. There are endless possibilities and one that is just right for you!

I would like to extend a huge thank you to the amazingly talented and kind Ashli Sacramento of Isadora Photography and Bareroot Collective located in Spring, TX.  It was a pleasure to create her custom belly cast art in which the direction "boho chic, Christian, geometrical" along with three color palette options came together like a gorgeous puzzle.
